Behaviour Management

Principles

  • Effective learning thrives on positive relationships
  • Good behaviour allows all pupils to learn; poor behaviour disrupts the perpetrators as well as others’ learning
  • The expectations of good behaviour are underpinned by respect
  • Clear rules help ensure good behaviour. These are understood and upheld by all
  • Rewards and sanctions are consistently applied by all staff
  • Restorative approaches are used promptly by all staff in order to encourage reflection and minimise escalation and recurrence

Practice

How the Behaviour Management Policy works in practice is detailed in the following places:

  • The Pupil Planner p30-31 give details on
  • Discipline for Learning,
  • Code of Conduct,
  • Rewards and Sanctions,
  • Bullying,
  • School Rules
  • Information for staff is held in the Staff Handbook

The exclusion procedure is included within the Behaviour Management Policy and Bishop Luffa School follow the Department of Education's Guidance on Exclusions.
