Our Sixth Form Young entrepreneurs have been receiving plaudits and prizes from local business leaders. Two teams from the school took part in the Chichester and Arun Business Plan competition as part of the Young Enterprise scheme which aims to encourage young people to develop their business management skills. Under the leadership of Year 12 students Jessica Bannister and Phil Hendy, the teams, called “T” and Novio, spent a month preparing their business plans and organizing a thirty minute presentation. Four judges, all leaders from local businesses, assessed the students’ work, as well as their understanding and knowledge. Both Bishop Luffa teams were highly commended and the judges said that the marks awarded to each team’s company were very close indeed. However, Novio eventually took first prize, gaining a shield and a cheque for £100. Mr Blamire, the school’s Young Enterprise co-ordinator, said that he was especially impressed with both teams’ passion to create a successful working business, coupled with excellent teamwork and professionalism.
The attached photograph shows students from the two successful companies, Novio and “T”, including company directors Jessica Bannister (3rd from left) and Phil Hardy (4th from left). The school’s Young Enterprise co-ordinator Allan Blamire is on the far left.
