On 5th December sixteen of our students were fortunate enough to attend a Christmas Lecture at the University of Surrey, where two senior development staff from Electronic Arts explained how a blockbuster video game is born.
The students, from Years 10, 11 and 12, represent a range of Bishop Luffa ICT courses, from GCSE ICT to A Level computing, and were selected on a first come, first served basis to see the presentation, which was organised by the Institution of Engineering and Technology.
Accompanied by teacher Mrs Radford, the teenagers discovered how over one hundred passionate and talented people create a chart topping game in over 32 countries world-wide. From the initial vision through to concept stages, Electronic Arts talked through the steps it takes to get the game into the hands of video game fans all over the world.
The students not only enjoyed seeing outtakes and bloopers but were also given an insight into the different careers available in the computer gaming industry.
