Having been impressed by the speed and comfort of the journey to the French capital, our ‘A’ Level students, gained an insight into film production processes by participating in an inter-active backstage tour at Cinema Rex, Europe’s largest cinema.
Here they were able to try their hand at creating sound effects and at being extras in a scene on a ship battling through a gale.
An evening cruise on the River Seine provided a chance to see the city’s lights illuminated for Christmas and helped to capture the romantic atmosphere of Paris.
“Seeing the Eiffel Tower all lit up was really magical,” said Jo Gale-Chambers. “Travelling together around the city centre on the metro and walking through local shopping streets was a real cultural experience – as well as loads of fun,” she added.
Much of the students’ time was spent at the Disneyland resort near Paris, where they discovered the secrets of the film industry at the Walt Disney Studio Park, with exciting insights into special effects, animation and stunt driving.
