Today is an extraordinary day granted by the Government to enable staff to plan for the introduction of the new KS3 curriculum. For more information about the new curriculum please go to http://curriculum.qca.org.uk.
Plans are now finalised for Wednesday's Exploration Day which will become a regular feature of the curriculum programme.
Year 7 Languages pupils are preparing for the Languages Festival which takes place on 15 July. This involves singing, dancing and acting in competition for a prize. The day will be used to audition and rehearse.
In Technology the theme is 'High Fliers'. Pupils are launching a new airline. They are designing and preparing an airline meal with lightweight and secure packaging, and designing the uniform.
Year 8 in English - one half are going to the Globe Theatre to watch Shakespeare's "Tempest". In Arts the other half work with a director in a "Tempest" workshop.
Year 8 Maths & Science - Rockets: Simulations in Maths; Making a rocket in Science.
Year 10 Humanities - half are out and about visiting places of worship.
PE - the other half day involves activities in tennis, netball and climbing, navigating and walking on the South Downs, golf at Hunston and sports science at University.
The Sixth Form are spending the day out at Chichester University preparing for University life!
A light lunch only is required. An afternoon break wtih squash and biscuits has been arranged through the PFA.
Everyone is very positive about the day.
