Year 8 students were recently blessed with good weather for their trip to Portsmouth, where they undertook activities relating to their work in History and Geography.

A visit to HMS Warrior was the destination for the History aspect of the visit. Students spent half a day on the ship, looking specifically at its military capabilities and life on board. The students were able to investigate living accommodation, gunnery, engines and punishments to name but a few aspects of their investigations. The work gives a wider context to their recent work on the creation of the UK, complements their visit to Fort Nelson in Year 7 and helps to set the scene for their work in Year 9.
