The world famous poet Benjamin Zephaniah visited the school Thursday. He electrified his audience of 600 Year 10 pupils and Sixth Form students from Bishop Luffa and five partner schools as he spoke, in an atmosphere that resembled an election rally, about his life and poetry. This was poetry that excited, saddened, provoked and moved us: “Dis poetry’s from inside me/and goes to you/wid love”. It will not be forgotten. A full review by pupils follows shortly. My warm thanks to Mr Mrak Nicholds, Business Manager, Mrs Helen Taylor-Bennett, Head of English Faculty, and Mrs Margaret Bone, Librarian for organising the event.
