A very successful Careers Fair took place on Tuesday 16 June. Here are some reviews from our pupils.
"My initial reaction to a ‘careers convention’ was that it would be rather predictable;…. I could not have been more wrong. There was a rife of choice to follow possible careers ranging from journalism to physiotherapy and even hospitality (involving the luxurious Goodwood Hotel)… Even Rubix cubes were put forth to draw people towards the inconspicuous Connexions advice stand…The convention was extremely helpful… it was just plain inspiring to listen to people get excited about their future".
Madi Barker 10 Otter
"The popularity of the event meant that there were queues for exhibitor’s time at several stands, but once you reached the exhibitor, their first hand knowledge provided a good insight into their occupation. In addition to careers advice, the event also provided the opportunity to acquire such items as a Rubik cube, memory stick and a variety of pens – all in all a worthwhile evening".

"Personally, as someone unsure of which career path to follow, I know I benefited from having so many employers all in the same place, willing to talk about their professions and share their experience. This was a very rare opportunity and as a result of it I am much more confident of my course choice at University and more aware of the opportunities open to me. Finally, it was an enjoyable evening for the employers as well who were delighted with how the convention went and were particularly impressed by the enthusiasm and engaging questions the students provided".
Paul Smale Year 12
"While I was there I decided to wonder among the universities. There were five in total and one of them was handing out free goodies too! I really felt the universities were the final puzzle piece that made the whole thing really work. It was an essential part of the convention and gave us a really good insight into what goes on and where we would have to go to take what courses…… overall I found it a most helpful evening and it really set my creative juices flowing as to what I may consider becoming in the future".
Esther King 8 Sherborne
"Bishop Luffa careers convention was a resounding success, providing snapshots of plenty of different carers, from architecture to hairdressing to banking. The stalls mostly offered advice on what subjects you would need, skills you would need to possess and the cost of training. They also answered many questions.. It was an evening that probably gave many of us a better idea about our future".
Ben Duncan-Duggal 8 Ridgeway
We are very grateful to all of the organisations that were represented at the Careers Convention. The event was very valuable to pupils and students in considering their future career options.
