As a school we want to support the people of Haiti who are experiencing unimaginable suffering. We have decided to have an extra Non-Uniform Day on Friday of this week, with all students making a minimum donation of £1. The idea, which came from the Sixth Form, is for us to wear an item of clothing which is red, and another which is blue, as a symbol of the Haitian flag.
Donations will be collected during registration on Friday 22 January and sent directly to the Christian Aid Haiti Appeal Fund. Christian Aid are sourcing emergency relief items for distribution to more than 15,000 people in eight communities who are getting little help from other agencies. They hope to provide food, tents, hygiene kits, blankets, jerry cans for water and water purifiers. They will also provide medical support.
