Everyone in school today wore red and blue – the colours of Haiti’s national flag – to support the Earthquake Appeal. Pupils were asked to pay at least £1 for the privilege. So far we have raised £2,620 – a staggering total. We were delighted that the Mayor of Chichester, Councillor Michael Woolley, who spoke to the Year 7 Assembly was also suitably dressed in red and blue and presented me with a donation for the appeal. The money goes directly to the Christian Aid Emergency Appeal fund.

“Christian Aid and its partners are working on sourcing and distributing food, tents, hygiene kits, blankets, jerry cans for water and water purifiers for more than 15,000 people in eight communities.
“We are targeting areas that are getting little help from other agencies and distributions have already started in Leogane and Darbonne.
“We are also funding medical supplies, both inside Haiti and for the tent hospitals at the Haiti/Dominican Republic border.”

I am proud that we can, as a school, make this contribution to others in desperate need. The pictures show pupils in red and blue today.
