Pupils in Year 9 and Year 7 were able to enjoy riveting performances from the ‘School History Scene’ theatre group in school today. The Year 9 pupils saw a performance of ‘Doomed Youth’, a play that looked at the events of the First World War through the eyes of young men and women caught up in the conflict. Year 7 pupils saw a performance of ‘Time Tunnel’ which looked at the Middle Ages, covering areas such as the Norman Conquest, medicine and the death of Thomas Becket. Such visits to the school reinforce the learning going on in the classroom and really bring history alive, and it is hoped that such experiences will become a regular aspect of the History Department’s work.
