Students from Parklands and Fishbourne primary schools and from Year 7 and 8 delighted the audience in the Bishop Luffa Languages Festival, which took place on Tues 13th July. Students prepared a variety of acts in French, German and Spanish, including songs, dances, musical presentations and sketches, which they then performed with confidence and style on the evening. The festival took the form of a competition, judged by former teachers Mrs. E. Robson and Mrs G. Sword. The primary school students, as always, produced entertaining acts with a wide range of language.

The Bishop Luffa Year 7 category was won by Chloe Holden and Madeleine May who performed a fluent, confident and humorous sketch based on the programme “Come dine with me”.

The Year 8 prize was won by George Bell, Joe Duncan-Duggal, Mollie Lippett and Eleanor Overton. Their “Blind Date” sketch was not only extremely entertaining, but also confidently performed.

The show was ably compered by students from Year 10 – Anna Breskal and Perry Emerson (French), Esme Ash and Harry Martin (German), and Megan Gent and Ellis Georgeou (Spanish). The audience also enjoyed Spanish music performed by Year 10 (Alisha Dyer-Spence, Peter Hopkins and Hannah Iverson).

It was excellent to see a real progression in students’ linguistic skills from beginners to those who have now completed two or more years of learning a foreign language. Congratulations to all those who took part in such an exciting evening.
