Key Stage 4
The GCSE Business Studies course requires pupils to understand the changing environment in which business operates and the many factors which impact upon business activity and business behaviour. These include the impact of the Government and laws on businesses as well as competitors and pressure groups.
Pupils will learn about different stakeholders in business, the need for sustainability and minimal impact on the environment as well as Globalisation and the importance of ethics in business decision-making. The business course also includes the different functions within businesses including Ownership, Marketing, Production, Finance and Human Resources.
For current Year 11 pupils: There are three Units for assessment which include a Controlled Assessment on Marketing and Enterprise(25%)and two exams of one hour (25%) and two hours (50%) each. Pupils will be taking these exams on a modular basis.
For current Year 10 pupils: There are two units of assessment, both exams taken at the end of Year 11. Each exam lasts 1 hour 45 minutes, being worth 90 marks which is 50% of their final grade.
