During lockdown Year 9 have been working remotely on a series of art projects, which have challenged their creativity and imagination and linked in with their current scheme of work at school.
The first mini project which students completed was an Urban Street Style Animal drawing and collage task, where they were asked to create their own Graffiti style animal studies, in response to a range of contemporary Graffiti artists who work in diverse media . Students used a range of techniques to respond to this theme, including drawing, collage and digital art work.
The second project focused on the strong connections between Art and Music and Year 9 students have explored the work of a range of artists and designers, whose art is in direct response to music, including the work of the artist Melissa McCracken who has Synesthesia. Students also researched graphic scores and the musicians who create them. They then, listened and responded to music; using line, colour and shape, taking inspiration from the artists they had been studying. This project culminated in the creation of an album cover design for a band or artist of the pupil's own choosing.
