Amelie McGurk (10Ridgeway) decided to celebrate her 15th birthday this year by running 150km for charity. Amelie explains why she decided to do this challenge:
“This year to celebrate my 15th birthday I’ve decided to run (and the odd walk for those who can’t run) 150km for charity.
“A lot of people will know that I love to run and to add another challenge to what I love doing, in lockdown, I thought I would raise some much needed money at the same time.
“I’ve chosen St Wilfrid’s Hospice as they really do make a different to local lives. Over the last few years they have cared for some very special people close to me and my family. Just last year that included the amazing Daisy Strange, who we particularly remember on the 15th February and my old Primary School Headteacher, Sue Patrick. In memory of all the families they have supported, I am running and walking the routes they all loved.”
Amelie achieved her goal of 150km in 33 days and in doing so has raised an amazing £1,905 for St Wilfrid’s Hospice. Congratulations Amelie on a fantastic achievement and for such a worthwhile cause. If you would like to make a donation Amelie’s JustGiving page can be found here.
