Three of our pupils Alex Gyopos-Cooke (9Wilson), Ella Saxton (9Sherborne) and Jacob Carr (9Sherborne), who are all members of the school’s Eco Group, had the opportunity to attend a Lent Lunch with local parishioners at Westbourne Church. At the lunch they were asked to give a short presentation on their Eco work at School.
Robina Richter from the Home and Overseas Committee, at Westbourne Church said, “Everyone was so impressed by the young people, the way they conducted themselves, what they said about climate change and the manner that they answered questions. They even made us laugh. On one occasion Alex while explaining Ecosia search engine suggested we might be searching for Christmas presents for our grandparents! Fun.
“Alex, Jacob and Ella were asked about what motivated them to involve themselves in Eco-climate issues. Their answers were splendid - ranging from wanting a better planet, taking responsibility for our creation, looking after animals and listening to Greta Thunberg. For us, however it was the way they easily connected their involvement with their Christian Faith.”
The money raised from the lunch, approximately £130 will be donated to the Snowdrop Trust.
