Dear parents and carers,
Our ski trip over half term was to Northern Italy. The region as a whole is dealing with an outbreak of Coronavirus. Our students were not in any of the areas that are now quarantined, but I want to make sure that all of our families are aware of the situation. The advice that we have been given by Public Health England is that if your child was on the ski trip and has cold symptoms, however mild, you should stay at home and contact 111.
The advice is different if you have been to an area that is now quarantined. Our ski trip was not to a quarantined area. However, if you or your family have been to a quarantined area of Italy since 19th February, you need to self-isolate and phone 111. The quarantined towns in Italy are Bertonico, Casalpusterlengo, Castelgerundo, Castiglione d'Adda, Codogno, Fombio, Maleo, San Fiorano, Somaglia, Terranova dei Passerini - all in Lodi province in Lombardy - and Vo' Euganeo in Padova province, Veneto. If your child was on the ski trip and has any symptoms, please follow the advice above and let the school know that you will be keeping your child at home.
The NHS advice around Coronavirus can be found here: https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/. It is also worth showing your children the ‘good hygiene’ advice here: https://www.nhsinform.scot/illnesses-and-conditions/infections-and-poisoning/flu#preventing-flu. We will be talking about this in tutor times this week.
Our prayers are with all of those people suffering from or dealing with the virus.
Yours faithfully,
Austen Hindman, Head Teacher
