Year 7 have been learning about 1066 and why William won the Battle of Hastings this term. Once we had found out why William won we started to look at how he had kept control of the English.
One of the ways was by the building of castles, starting with Motte and Bailey castles. The class built some Motte and Bailey castles for homework. There were some excellent examples made and even some cake versions!
Caiden Robinson (7Sherborne) said "Learning about and making Motte and Bailey castles was fun and gave me a great insight into life in 1066." Another pupil mentioned that ‘Motte and Bailey castles can get burnt and go mouldy because they are made of wood’.
A huge amount of effort was put into this creative homework.
