The Arkwright Scholarships Trust inspires and nurtures future leaders in engineering and technical design by awarding Arkwright Engineering Scholarships to high-calibre students. The Arkwright Engineering Scholarships support students through their A Levels and encourages them to pursue engineering or technical design at University or through a higher-level apprenticeship.
Every Scholarship is sponsored by a commercial company, trade association, university, professional institution, armed service, government organisation, worshipful company, charitable trust or personal donor. This means that support is offered in various different ways, for example, valuable hands-on work experience, support for your curriculum project and a personal mentor who can help with aspects of student studies and career planning.
Congratulations to Joe Hughes-Cornick (11Burrows) and Louie Martin (11King) who have become Arkwright Associates. Special mentions to Matthew Forbes (11Story), Harry Gray (11King) and Jamie Hudson (11Wilson) for their achievement in the process – which is an accolade in itself.
One of the parents of an Arkwright Scholar had this to say, "Thank you for your support of my son over the last two years. The money and the support of his Sponsor has made a real difference to him in what, for our family, have been touch economic times. As a proud Dad I know that the confidence boost of the Scholarship and your faith in my son started the journey that led to him gaining a place to read engineering at Cambridge. The Arkwright exam, interview and Award Ceremony, and the support of his Sponsor, made him think he could do it!"
I wish all the students who participated in the process every success for their future studies and careers.
Mr A Apperley, Head of Design and Technology
