Recently a large number of pupils, parents and family members gathered with staff to celebrate the successful work of our young designers. The Design Awards were sponsored by the Rotary Club Chichester Priory, and I would like to thank Doug Price and Gordon Jones (Club President) for attending on their behalf and presenting the awards. Everybody enjoyed seeing the wonderful products that the pupils and students had made, products that demonstrated craftsmanship, skills in manipulating and constructing materials, handling ingredients and shaping fabrics.

Solidworks Competition
This year saw the introduction of a Solidworks competition to give students the opportunity to showcase their ability at using our newly acquired software to design a smart product for the 21st century. The entries showed a great deal of creativity and skill in the application of the new modelling technology. The winner not only applied modelling through Solidworks but also combined the development of his idea with robotics and coding to produce a working prototype.
This year’s winner is Will Lynas (9Otter).
Special mentions go to Lily-Rose Bonney (9Story), Sean Benning (8Story) and Leo Stirzaker (9Ridgeway).
