This term students in Year 8 German have been having fun learning all about food. On the last day of half term they transformed L6 into an authentic German Café with menus, waiters, customers and of course food and drink! Pupils used the language skills they have acquired this term to ask for the waiter’s attention, request a table and a menu, order food and drink items, have a conversation and then ask the bill. Everything was done in target language (include their conversations!)
The students enjoyed making an d bringing in their goodies for the rest of the class to sample and loved eating them! Students took turns in being the waiter/waitress and a customer. They particularly enjoyed taking it in turns to be the Language Police and evict pupils who were trying to get away with speaking English! A good time was had by all and everyone benefitted from the opportunity to practise their language skills in a real life situation and enjoy yummy food and drink at the same time. Well done Year 8!
