The Hour of Code started five years ago as a one-hour introduction to computer science. It has since become a worldwide effort to celebrate computer science. Their aim is for every student to have the opportunity to learn computer science. It helps nurture problem-solving skills, logic and creativity. By starting early, students will have a foundation for success in any 21st-century career path.
Key Stage 3 pupils at Bishop Luffa took part and have enjoyed the challenge. Here’s what some Year 8s have said:
Cerys said “It’s super creative, and I love being creative. I didn’t know that you could do create things by programming like this in Computer Science”.
“It’s cool that you can choose your own activity, that has made it more interesting and I’ve really enjoyed doing it”, commented Eryn in Year 8. Ben also enjoyed taking part, "It’s really fun and you can pretty much make it your own by changing the code. I didn’t know that I would be able to program the Minecraft guy and program the blocks”.
