Dear parents and carers,
I am writing to let you know that our uniform suppliers, Game, Set and Match, are intending to reopen on 15th June. They have put measures in place to ensure that social distancing is possible, and they ask that any customers visit their website, https://www.gsam.co.uk/, and make an appointment before visiting the shop.
We held a student vote before the lockdown to decide our new school skirt. However, we realise that many families’ finances will have been affected by recent events, so we have decided to move the date when the new skirt will become compulsory to Years 8-11 to September 2021. If you are buying a new skirt before this date, please buy the new design. We would like Year 7 to wear the new skirt from September 2020.
The winning design is a ‘Davenport’ style with a knife-pleat in grey.
The expectation is that the skirt will be worn with the band showing and will reach the student’s knee. Please be prepared for us to be very fussy about this!
Whilst we would encourage you to buy the skirt from our official supplier, the purpose of the redesign was to make the uniform more affordable. If students choose to wear the new skirt with a shirt and tie, then the only items that have to be bought from the official supplier are the tie and blazer. This style of skirt is often described as a ‘full pleat’ or ‘permanent pleat’ from High Street shops. The important thing for us is the regularity of the pleats and the small, visible band at the waist.
Please note that the official supplier will no longer be selling the old style skirt.
The rest of the uniform remains the same.
Yours faithfully,
Mr Austen Hindman, Head Teacher
