During lockdown some of our students entered Wagtail’s poetry contest. The theme of the competition was ‘Locked Down But Not Out’ and entries were invited that reflected the ups and downs during this time.
We are delighted to announce that Isla Donaldson (8Andrewes) and Seb Chatzopoulos (7Wilson) were voted by the public and the judging panel as winners and were invited to read their poems in March at a virtual Open Mic session. Isla was judged 3rd overall in all age groups and voted as one of the People’s Choice winners with this poem:
I am trapped with no-one to see
The world is changing right in front of me
My face is covered with nowhere to go
Someone help, I'm losing hope
The sun still shines
The rainbows in the windows show
Come on Covid, it's time to go!
Seb wrote a Haiku poem, winning the under 14s category. Here is his winning entry:
Stuck in our houses
Covid forbids us to leave
Best Friends drift apart
Congratulations to both Isla and Seb on their winning entries.
