A group of pupils have been working incredibly hard to design a two course meal using local ingredients for entry to the Create & Cook competition.
The Create & Cook competition is about creating a menu for two people, and is open to pupils in Years 8 and 9. Ten pupils entered the final cook-off stage last night. Working in pairs, they had ninety minutes in which to create their menu. The competition was tight as each pair, showing their creativity, enthusiasm and high-level making skills, endeavoured to be amongst the three pairs who would be chosen to represent Bishop Luffa in the draw for the County Finals to be held in May. Mr Topley and our Sussex finalists from 2016 (Emily Dicker (10 Story) and Hannah Lipton (10 Sherborne) were our three judges of the final products.
The pupils involved were: – James Berriman (9 Andrewes), Jonathan Maynard (9 Burrows), Leila Karim (9 Burrows), Jasmine Westlake (9 Otter), John Lopez (9 Andrewes), Callum Budd (9 Andrewes), Emily Munns (9 King), Emily Williams (9 King), Emily Rossiter (9 Sherborne) and Ella Green (9 Sherborne).
The judges agreed that having to choose three out of the five pairs was a very difficult decision, but the following pupils were chosen to represent our school in the draw for the next round of the competition: James Berriman (9 Andrewes) and Jonathan Maynard (9 Burrows), Leila Karim (9 Burrows) and Jasmine Westlake (9 Otter), John Lopez (9 Andrewes) and Callum Budd (9 Andrewes).
Congratulations to all pupils who entered the competition, and particularly the three pairs who go forward to the next round.
A big thank you to our judges and our Food Technician Mrs Brookes for their support.
