An update from Product Design...
We may have been in lockdown but that did not stop our Key Stage 3 pupils from being super as ever! Remote learning is always a challenge for practical subjects, our pupils embraced the mini-projects set within the google classrooms and produced some fantastic work.
Their efforts did not stop there, within the four weeks back at school they were challenged not only by our current Covid-19 Health and Safety policies, but also workshop Health and Safety processes. Mrs Ockwell designed a super Easter Decoration project for Years 7 & 8 where students could practice their marking, cutting, sanding and finishing skills. They did such a super job in a timely manner that allowed Mr Bonney to introduce Computer Aided Design (CAM) (2D Design Software) and Computer Aided Manufacture (CAM) (The Laser Cutter) to design and produce some eggcellent Easter cards! Year 9 students have equally been busy since the return back to school, by not only undergoing one project but two! Within the classroom sessions a project designing a Brompton bike accessory is taking place which allows the students to work within research and graphical design skills. In the workshop session a new wooden swivel photo frame project is taking place. Design & Technology students really do embrace life in all its fullness.
