Congratulations to Steven Hughes (11Sherborne) who has been offered a place on next year’s European Scout Jamboree.
Steven tells us about the Jamboree, “The European Jamboree is held at irregular intervals and was last hosted by the UK in 2005 and next year is being hosted in Gdansk - Poland. The aim of the Jamboree is to celebrate Scout and Guide values, strengthen our international community and provide young people with the opportunity to meet and learn from each other. The Jamboree will involve around 35 European nations.
“The original Jamboree was scheduled for August 2020 but due to the current situation is has been postponed to 2021. This meant that anyone from the UK that would be over 18 by the new date would no longer be able to go. The 9 spaces in the West Sussex contingent went live and that is where I got my place after a short interview/chat with the contingent leaders.”
There is a lot of information on the European Jamboree website https://ej2020.org
