Dear families and friends of Bishop Luffa School,
I can’t believe that we’ve done a whole half term online! We really appreciate the work that parents and carers have put in as teachers and teaching assistants since the lockdown started. Without you this would not be working at all: we also appreciate that we have much to learn and to adapt to make this a meaningful experience for another half term.
It has been great fun welcoming the children of key workers into school, and it is humbling listening to them talk about the work that their parents are doing. Most say that they enjoy coming in to school, and Bishop Luffa staff who are working with them certainly appreciate a slice of normality in their week. The students decided to put a rainbow in every classroom window and finished off with this huge heart-shaped rainbow for the front of school.
As many of you will have seen, staff and students have been sending Ms Castle inspiring Bible quotes, which she has been using her calligraphy skills to transform. I have struggled to think of just one quote, but I have found myself coming back to this verse from John’s Gospel during difficult times at school: “For God so loved the world that He gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16). With so much being sacrificed by so many, I have found it helps me to remember that God has shared our suffering.
I hope that you enjoy our newsletter and see that life goes on for our students, whatever the challenges around them.
Best wishes,
Austen Hindman, Head Teacher.
