Year 9 recently had an Enterprise Day where they followed a Dragons Den style format and created products, which they then pitched to a team of ‘Dragons’ from the business world.
9Sherborne were winners from their half of the school. Their product was ‘Planet A’, an app that tells you how and where to recycle products from your weekly shop. Barcodes are scanned and the app then uses your location to find your nearest recycling centre and tells you what can and cannot be recycled. The whole tutor group worked together but the pupils who pitched their idea were Millie Simpson, Eliza South, Annie Wallace, Holly Pullen and Isobel Buckler.
It was then the turn of Andrewes, Burrows, King and Otter to come up with their winning ideas. The winners were 9Burrows. Their idea was to create power generating gym equipment which is placed in parks – hence preserving our environment whilst maintaining good health. The winning team were Jasmine Karim, Phoebe Skillicorn, Louise Silvester, Sophie Steen, Amelia Procter, Sarah Palmer, Eryn Wyatt and Emma Turner.
9Burrows were also crowned the overall winners of the Enterprise Day winning the Natures’ Way Trophy.
