Young Enterprise is a scheme in which students set up their own business and run it for an academic year under the guidance of voluntary business mentors. Our team consists of nine students in Year 12.
On 11 March 2018 three members of our company, Willow and Fern, attended our first Trade Fair at the Holmbush Shopping Centre, Shoreham. We set out to gain experience, as it was our first selling opportunity, and it ended up being an extremely successful day.
Our main product is cacti planted in hand-made concrete pots, which meant that we were apprehensive about our transport arrangements and whether our pots would survive, but I’m glad to say they did! We arrived in good time and set up our stall (as seen in the pictures).
As the day progressed our stall attracted more and more customers, ending the day with a sizable profit that exceeded our expectations!
It was a really valuable experience as we learnt a lot that will help us to progress as a company in the future. We have more trade fairs lined up and are hoping to sell at school events in the near future.
