Careers at Bishop Luffa School
Through assemblies, Personal Social & Health Education lessons and our Enterprise and Exploration days we are able to provide all of our pupils with a full careers programme here at Bishop Luffa School. In addition to this we also organise the following support in school for our pupils and students:
Careers and Enterprise Co-ordinator
Mrs Hopp offers a daily drop in service available to all pupils at break and lunchtimes on any school day to discuss careers, apprenticeships, further and higher education choices and/or work experience.
Our school also employs the services of a qualified Careers Advisor from EBP South to carry out free weekly formal 1-to-1 careers interviews with our pupils in Years 10 through to Year 13. These interviews are bookable in advance, and all bookings can be made through Mrs Hopp in the careers office: email@example.com
All pupils have access to 1-to-1 career mentoring with business professionals from a large variety of career backgrounds. This can help pupils to find direction, raise aspirations, as well as being an aid to making Further Education and Higher Education choices.
Careers Work Experience Opportunities
At Bishop Luffa School we run two Work Experience programmes in Years 10 and 12. As a school we believe in the value of work experience, and the importance of developing key employability skills which help our pupils to develop confidence, motivation and strong organisational skills. In a very competitive world Work Experience helps our pupils to stand out, and can help lead directly to future employment.
Higher Education questionnaires (optional - £28 approx.) for pupils in Year 12 to help match pupils’ abilities and interests to HE courses and careers.
University of Chichester
We have strong links with the University of Chichester who help to support us in school, providing advice and information on Higher Education, as well as running programmes to raise the aspirations of our pupils from Year 7 through to Year 13.
David Allison from GetMyFirstJob is invited in to talk to our pupils each year about the large variety of Apprenticeships available from Advanced through to Higher and Degree.
Brighton and Sussex Medical School
Annual visits from Brighton and Sussex Medical School to talk to our pupils in Years 9 to Year 13 about careers in medicine. These sessions are supported by GPs, nurses and research scientists so that our pupils are able to find out more about the large variety of careers within the NHS.
