King House was created in 1993 and is named after Bishop Henry King, who was Bishop of Chichester from 1642 to 1646. When Chichester was captured by the Parliamentarians, Bishop King’s estates were confiscated and his library sold. He lived in Buckinghamshire until the restoration of the monarchy in 1660. When he returned to Chichester, he established a restoration fund to repair the cathedral and Bishop’s Palace. He died in 1669 and was buried in the Cathedral.

King House Prayer

Dear Lord,

Thank you for having us together in King House.

We ask You to help us give the best of ourselves while we are here,

And that You use the unity of our house to further your purpose in the world.

Keep us ever mindful of the suffering we can bring an end to,

That we might all become citizens of a kinder, more just world,

And lead us to a greater knowledge of Your love.

Amen

King House 2020-2021

King House Page 1What an amazing year King House has had. Despite restrictions in school and another lockdown King House students have continued to shine with their resilience, determination and hard work. This year we have focused on what it means to be in King house, our identity and what we stand for. The students have been fantastic at sharing their ideas and leading the way on this. There ideas were listened to and we were able to create our House ethos which we are hugely proud of. We believe that everyone in King House is equal and deserves the chance to shine which they certainly have this year. I am so lucky to be the Head of House for such a remarkable group of young people. I cannot wait to see what the next academic year has in store for King House but I know we will continue to develop and grow.

King House Page 2We look forward to welcoming our new year 7 students in September. We were not able to offer them a transition day but it was certainly lovely to see so many of them during our online sessions.

House Captains: King House has been led this year by two amazing house captains who have done so much for the house. Joseph Clines our House Captain and Adele Dillion the Deputy House Captain have been amazing at getting to know the King students and help support everyone to do their very best. We wish them both the very best as they move into Year 13.

Year 7 Trip: On the 14th July 7 King got to spend the day at the Andrew Simpson waterpark in Portsmouth. This group missed out on the Isle of Wight residential so had a well-deserved day on the water! They had great fun kayaking, paddle boarding and using the climbing wall. They were a credit to King House, well done 7 King!

King House Page 4House Drama: Congratulations to all the students who worked so hard to put together our House Drama performance Bridge to Terabithia. The cast and crew gave an amazing performance which got us into the final. Well done to Joe Clines, Anna Broom and Henry Dempster the directors.
