Law students visit Portsmouth Magistrates Court
20 May

On Monday 19th May, the A’Level Law class went to Portsmouth Magistrates Court. We were hosted by two Magistrates, JP Stone and JP Latham, who had been in to see us earlier in the year to talk about the role of Magistrates in the Criminal Justice System. Our hosts spoke to us between cases to give us context and the ‘insider perspective’. We witnessed eight cases which ranged from shoplifting to breaking bail conditions. It was really interesting to see the various professionals at work and exciting to see all the law we have been studying come to life.
