A REVIEW OF Burrows House 2025-2026

Another fantastic year has flown by for Burrows House, and what a journey it has been! From sporting triumphs and dramatic performances to charity fundraising, engineering success and countless House points, Burrows students have once again shown what makes our House so special. Whether on the sports field, on stage, in the classroom or simply supporting one another, Burrows has continued to prove that success comes in many forms.

11Bu – The Final Chapter

Our Year 11 students embraced the challenges of their GCSE year with determination, resilience and plenty of hard work. Between preparing for autumn mock exams and keeping Burrows at the heart of House life, they also experienced a change in form tutor, saying goodbye to Mr Bravo and welcoming Mr Blewitt.11Bu has been a hardworking, kind and ambitious group, led brilliantly by students awarded House Colours: Bella, Lily, Ben, George, Bonnie, Isabelle, Ianis, Daisy. Their talents stretched from rugby pitches and netball courts to the design workshop, where one outstanding student's passion for Product Design, nurtured since Key Stage 3, earned her the prestigious Arkwright Engineering Scholarship—the UK's leading engineering scholarship. We are incredibly proud of this remarkable achievement.

10Bu – Setting the Standard

Led by Mr Hunter, 10Bu is a wonderfully diverse group whose talents seem to cover almost every area imaginable. Organised, mature and full of natural leaders, they approach every inter-house competition with enthusiasm and commitment, often exceeding expectations. Among them are outstanding athletes, talented Sports Leaders, gifted artists and crafters who created beautiful bracelets in support of our House charity, Dreams Come True, and accomplished actors who continue to shine in school productions and inter-house drama. If Burrows had a quality control department, 10Bu would definitely be running it. High standards seem to come naturally!

9Bu – Supporting Each Other Every Step of the Way

Mr Owen's Year 9 form has shown what teamwork really means. Whenever someone needs support, this group is always there. They boast talented drama performers, successful pianists, creative musicians, excellent footballers and athletes, including some, who competes at county level. Alongside making important GCSE option choices, over a third of the group achieved their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh's Award—a fantastic accomplishment. A special mention goes to Austen, who organised an inspiring fundraising challenge for Wheels for All by cycling an incredible 500 miles in just one month. An outstanding achievement that demonstrated commitment, resilience and generosity.

8Bu – Energy in Abundance

Led by Mr Mudd, 8Bu is quite possibly the bubbliest form in Burrows—and the enthusiasm of the boys certainly keeps everyone entertained! This year they have impressed with outstanding performers, artists and dancers who have helped Burrows reach inter-house drama and dance finals. A special congratulations goes to Jacob, who performed in Atonement at the Chichester Festival Theatre, adding another production to an already impressive acting career. Perhaps their greatest strength, however, is their willingness to step up for one another. Whether facing challenges or representing the House, 8Bu never backs away from supporting the team.

7Bu – A Flying Start

From the moment they arrived, it was obvious that 7Bu would make a fantastic addition to Burrows House. Their Isle of Wight residential helped build strong friendships, and those bonds only grew stronger throughout the year. They collected House points at an impressive rate, excelled across inter-house sporting competitions—especially cricket—and enthusiastically took to the stage in Inter-house Drama. Perhaps most importantly, they also showed kindness beyond their own year group by helping welcome our new Year 6 visitors, giving them a glimpse of what makes Burrows such a friendly place to belong.

Our Sixth Form Leaders

No House succeeds without strong leadership, and we have been fortunate to have fantastic Sixth Form students; Jessica, George, Alfred, Noah, Kathy, Kai, Stanley leading by example throughout the year.

Burrows House in One Sentence...

A House where everyone belongs, everyone contributes, and where there always seems to be someone willing to run, perform, build, create, fundraise, volunteer... or simply cheer everyone else on.

Here's to another brilliant year. Go Burrows!
