Future Design & Technology GCSE Students Inspired by Biomimicry

Future Design & Technology GCSE students explored the importance of a well-rounded education and how studying Design & Technology develops valuable lifelong skills. Throughout the session, students discovered how a GCSE in Design & Technology supports creative thinking, problem-solving, innovation, and resilience—essential qualities for future careers, whether as employees, entrepreneurs, or educators.

To put these skills into practice, students were introduced to the fascinating concept of biomimicry—drawing inspiration from nature to solve design challenges. Their task encouraged them to observe how plants, animals, and natural systems overcome problems and use these ideas to inspire innovative product designs.

This engaging activity highlighted how Design & Technology combines creativity with practical problem-solving, preparing students to think critically, adapt to new challenges, and design solutions for the future.
