Our German Adventure
Towards the end of the summer term some of our students had the fantastic opportunity of visiting Munich. Some of our students shared their thoughts on their time away.
Aarushi Rajyaguru (9Sherborne) - My German Adventure
Last summer, I went on an amazing trip to Germany with my school. I was really excited because it was a chance to explore a new country, experience German culture and make memories with my friends. Throughout the trip, we visited interesting places, tried new activities and had the opportunity to meet people from a different culture. Every day was different, and there were many exciting experiences that I will remember for a long time. The trip also allowed me to practise my German outside of the classroom.
Day 1, Discovering Germany
On the first day, we went sightseeing and explored the city. We saw the stadium, which was really impressive, and we had the opportunity to take lots of photos and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. The weather was great, which made exploring even more enjoyable. It was a nice and safe trip, and I enjoyed spending time with my friends while discovering new places.
Day 2, Rain, Sights and BMW Welt
On the second day, we spent part of the day sightseeing and visited a really beautiful palace called Schloss Nymphenburg. There was lots to look at, and we had time to explore the area and visit the gift shop and buy different souvenirs. Later that day, we visited BMW Welt, which was one of my favourite parts of the trip. The building was absolutely massive, and there were so many different vehicles to explore. We got to see lots of impressive BMW cars and other vehicles up close, which made the experience really exciting. One of the most interesting things I saw was a robotic coffee machine, which was able to prepare coffee in a really unusual and futuristic way. I thought this was especially cool because it showed how technology can be used in everyday life. Overall, BMW Welt was really fun to explore, and the amazing vehicles and interesting technology made Day 2 another memorable part of our German trip.
Day 3, New Friends & New Experiences
On the third day, we visited an amazing school in Dorfen. I was really excited because it gave us the opportunity to see what a German school was like and compare it to our own school. When we arrived, we were welcomed by the students and teachers, and everyone was very friendly. At first, I was a little nervous because I did not know anyone, but I quickly became more comfortable and started talking to other students. I made many new friends throughout the day, which made the experience even more enjoyable. We also took part in lots of fun activities that allowed us to communicate, work together and get to know each other better. These activities were a great way for us to connect with the German students and experience how another school works. It was interesting to see the differences between their school and ours while also sharing our own experiences. Overall, Day 3 was a memorable part of the trip because I made new friends, tried new activities and got the chance to experience a different school and culture.
Izzy Cannon (9Ridgeway) - A Trip to Remember
Overall, my trip to Germany was an unforgettable experience filled with exciting activities, new places and great memories. I really enjoyed exploring the city, visiting BMW Welt and experiencing a German school. One of my favourite things about the trip was meeting new people and making friends, as it allowed me to learn more about German culture in a fun and enjoyable way. I also gained more confidence in using German and communicating with people I had never met before. I am very grateful that I got the opportunity to go on this trip, and I would definitely love to visit Germany again in the future.
Pip Martindale & Harriet Nichols (9Story)
The German trip was so much fun. It was one of the highlights of my holiday. We got up early on Thursday, tired but excited to get going. We took our seats, said goodbye to our parents and off we went!
We arrived at Gatwick airport and had some time in duty free with our friends. We then boarded and had a really good flight over to Munich.
Once we arrived in the center of Munich, we went to a lovely bakery for lunch. After that, we got a guided tour around the city, seeing all sorts of beautiful churches, buildings and history of the city. We then went to go and look at the Munich football stadium. It was a really cool experience and we all enjoyed visiting lots of areas we had seen on TV like the team changing rooms.
We all woke up the next day and went to go and see the schloss which was really cool and really pretty. My favourite bit was exploring the castle with my friends. We then went to BMW world which I was really looking forward to. It was really fun to go and see loads of cool cars and motorbikes.
On the last day, we went to go and see our penpals in Dorfen. It was really nice to finally meet them and gave us all a great opportunity to try and speak some German. We did some activities with them and got to know them a bit better.
It was an amazing trip and I am so glad I went on it.
