Why study Psychology?
Psychology is an exciting and relevant subject. Through studying it at A-level you will:
• develop a sound understanding of methods and approaches in psychology
• use and apply your psychological knowledge and understanding to a range of topic areas
• develop your critical thinking skills in the context of psychology
Course details
Students will develop a broad knowledge and understanding of the core areas of psychology (social, cognitive, developmental, biological and psychopathological) through a range of topics, chosen for their accessibility and popularity: Social influence, Memory, Attachment, Approaches in Psychology, Psychopathology, Research methods and Issues and Options in Psychology. This is a fully linear course, with all three exams taken at the end of the two year course.

Paper 1: Introductory Topics in Psychology
• written exam: 2 hours
• 96 marks in total. 33.3% of A-level
Paper 2: Psychology in Context
• written exam: 2 hours
• 96 marks in total. 33.3% of A-level
Paper 3: Issues and Options in Psychology
• written exam: 2 hours
• 96 marks in total. 33.3% of A-level
Entry requirements
Students should have gained a grade 6 in a Science GCSE.
