Sixth Form Centre & Library

The Sixth Form Centre

The Sixth Form Cafe provides a place to relax, play pool and socialise between lessons or study in a more informal atmosphere, perhaps collaboratively with classmates. A dedicated coffee shop is open all day and offers a range of freshly prepared food and beverages.

Broadsheet newspapers are available daily. Key information is displayed for students via a dedicated plasma screen. There are also numerous display boards promoting extra-curricular activities, careers and apprenticeships, university open days, the Sixth Form Committee, pastoral support services and more. There is Wi-Fi available as well as charging sockets for mobile devices and laptops.

The Head of Sixth Form and Sixth Form Pastoral Manager’s offices are located in the Centre and they are regularly on hand to provide day-to-day support and guidance.

“We aim to enable you to fulfil your own potential both academically and socially. We offer strong pastoral support to ensure that you have access to personal and academic guidance and support. We encourage you to exercise individual and social responsibility to help prepare you for the opportunities and experiences of adult life. You’ll be part of a caring environment – you’ll be valued for who you are, not just what you can do”

The Sixth Form Library

The Sixth Form Library provides a silent study space, staffed throughout the day, where students can study uninterrupted by friends and other distractions. Resources recommended by teachers are available on short term loan and in addition to the PCs available, Wi-Fi enables students to use their own mobile devices, laptops and tablets. A printer/photocopier is available for all students to use free of charge.

The library team are able to provide a range of support to students from study skills workshops to help with research and referencing for the Extended Project Qualification. They ensure that a range of wider reading material is available to students including specialist A-level magazines, subject journals and fiction. Many students really value the extra help and advice on offer.

For further information please see the Sixth Form Library website.

Staffed by an experienced Library team, the Sixth Form Library provides students with a quiet, calm study environment, as well as IT access and a range of books and magazines to support A-level subjects and reading for pleasure. Our library website has a dedicated Sixth Form area too, and in the library there is always someone on hand to help locate resources and give advice or study tips to ensure each student can achieve exam success.
