Chaplaincy

Prior to ordination, I worked in Social Services for 13 years (primarily adults with a learning disability). In 2006 I was ordained as an Anglican priest (Church of England) and served in various parishes in and around the Portsmouth area. After 11 years in parish ministry, I joined the Royal Navy as a chaplain. I served for 7 years on frigates, destroyers, the RFA around the globe and shore-based units. Our strapline in the navy is “Friend and advisor to all on board” and I think that has strong congruence with my role as chaplain to Bishop Luffa School.
Alongside my role as chaplain to the school, I am also the Priest-in-Charge to St Wilfrid’s Parklands doing all the usual church and mission-based activities of a parish. I’m still a Naval Reservist and enjoy all things car related (don’t get me started!), Portsmouth FC, getting out on my boat when time allows, and cooking. I live with my wife, two children and a Staffy dog who thinks she owns the house!
