Interhouse Summer Writing Competition

Our KS3 students were invited to take part in the Summer Writing Competition, by choosing one of the following topics:

 

“The Summer That Changed Everything” Write a short story about a summer where something unexpected reshaped a character’s future.
“Heatwave” Write a story set during an extreme summer heatwave - it can be realistic or dystopian.
“One Perfect Summer Day” Write a story or descriptive piece that captures a single perfect summer day - from sunrise to sunset. It could be peaceful, chaotic, funny, or bittersweet, but focus on vivid sensory detail (sounds, smells, heat, light).
 

We had a fantastic response and the winners were:

 

Year 7

1st place - Samuel Taplin (7Wilson)

2nd place - Lucy Matthews (7Ridgeway)

Joint 3rd place - Valentina Carvajal-Neal (7Ridgeway) and Henry Rizzo (7King)

 

Year 8

1st place - Isla Hayman (8Andrewes)

2nd place - Krystelle Fernandez Vasquez (8Ridgeway)

3rd place - Grace Bragaglia (8Otter)

 

Year 9

1st place - Tom Greenlees (9Burrows)

2nd place - Autumn-Rae Carter (9Story)

3rd place - Taylor Skidmore-Phillips (9Story)
