March and April were extremely busy months for the Dance department at Bishop Luffa School. We started our run of dance events with a visit from 3fall Dance company, the 3rd year degree students from the University of Chichester. They led an inspiring workshop with a group of students from Years 9 to 13.
As we headed towards the end of the Spring term we had the Interhouse Dance Competition which was won overall by Andrewes House. The following evening we hosted our annual dance event to showcase performances and choreographies from students in Years 7 to 13. This was a wonderful evening and we are very proud of all the students who performed dances that were produced both in lessons and in extra-curricular clubs and activities.
On the final day of the Spring term our amazing Year 13 A Level students had their final practical exam. They performed solo and group performances plus they presented their final group choreographies. They were ably supported by a number of talented dancers from Years 10, 11 and 12.
After Easter we took the Year 10 BTEC Dance students to perform at Dance House at the Pavilion Theatre in Worthing. They performed really well and were a credit to the school.
We recently said farewell to our Year 11 BTEC Dance students and Year 13 A Level Dance students. It is always a sad time for the team but we wish them well and we know that they will all go on to do great things. Many are continuing their studies in Dance most notably Caitlin Waldron who has secured a place at Trinity Laban Conservatoire for Dance and Olivia Baggott who is currently making a choice between Royal Academy of Dance and Bath Spa University.
