I am very pleased to announce the appointment of Fr Phillip Amey as our new Chaplain. Fr Phillip is presently a navy chaplain, based at St Ann’s in Portsmouth dockyards. He has previously been a parish priest in Southsea and Purbrook. Prior to his ordination, Fr Phillip was a social worker.
We are hoping that Fr Phillip will be with us at the start of Lent. The Navy requires that Chaplains give a year’s notice; we are very grateful that they have agreed to a shorter notice period.
As with his predecessor, Fr Phillip will also be the priest-in-charge of St Wilfrid’s, which is our local parish church. Both roles are part time and I am working with the Church Wardens of St Wilfrid’s to make sure that the roles don’t accidentally become two full time jobs!
I have struggled to find a good photo of Fr Phillip, but this is fairly recent: https://www.hampshirelive.news/news/hampshire-news/royal-navy-couple-finally-marry-5501680.
