Read MoreOur students in Year 12 painted their own version of the "Guernica" by Pablo Picasso. Their mural theme was "Covid 19" and following the structure of the original Guernica it was divided in three parts (Life before Covid, Life during Covid and Life after Covid).
Read MoreCongratulations to Sophia McWilliam (7Burrows) who received 1st place, and Ollie Mills (7Otter) in 2nd place for their fantastic designs in the Car Designs of the Future competition run by Peter Cooper Group VW. We have a large group of students who took part in this competition and during June they were lucky enough to be shown around the Volkswagen ID.4 model. The design and technology competition was aimed at engaging students in thinking about what cars may be like in 40 years from now – in 2061!
Read MoreYear 7 and 8 students were getting creative at the end of term within Product Design lessons turning the departments’ off cuts and materials into tangible useful products as part of our adapted curriculum for this year. They had to find a client and produce a product to meet their client’s needs through design and planning. Products were made from wooden off cuts, fabric scraps, used thermoforming plastic and Acrylic off cuts in line with the Kids Just Recycle Project. The photos below show some of the fantastic creations made by the students which have all been entered into a competition to win £250 for the school.

Read MoreYear 7 classes had the opportunity to use their language skills in a cross curricular way this term as part of the Year 7 Languages Festival. Each class submitted at least one entry, including diverse topics such as as an impressive French Minecraft construction depicting the life of Napoleon, a Latin version of Harry Potter, Hansel and Gretel in German and Dora the Explorer in Spanish.
Read MoreI was really pleased to be selected to represent team GBR at the Optimist World Championship in Lake Garda in Italy. Back in May I took part in the Optimist 2021 GBR Team Selection Event with the top 75 Optimist sailors in Britain. I sailed hard and came second, so I was selected for the top team, which was made up of the top five sailors. 57 different countries selected their best five sailors for the Worlds.
Congratulations to Charlotte Risby (9Burrows), Molly Roberts (9King) and Francesca Little (10Otter) who recently competed in the Starz UK Dance competition in Canterbury. Together with their CWD team they did incredibly well, placing 1st in all categories entered, bar one. Charlotte won 1st prize in the Starz Teen lyrical solo, 1st place in the Teen Large Group, and 3rd place for her duet, a huge achievement in her first ever live competition event.
Read More7Burrows were all working remotely during the last few days of this term. Their final task in their Religious Studies lesson was to use what they had around their houses to research and create a religious place of worship.
