Students in Year 9 Textiles were asked to complete a research analysis task for our Up cycle Project. They were given the following information as their brief:
The Tate Modern is having a new exhibition on the Pop Art movement and its impact on the fashion industry. It is looking for a new designer to create a Pop Art inspired centrepiece for the launch of the exhibition. It must be an item of clothing and be inspired by the Pop Art movement.
Research, design, and develop ideas and techniques that can be used to celebrate and represent the theme of ‘The Pop Art Movement’ on a T-shirt or another item of clothing.
They were asked to creatively experiment and explore their own initial designs using mini mannequins and paper manipulation. They then wrote an explanation of their design, using questions such as:
- Who is the target market for your product?
- What is the culture of your target market?
- Are you considering selling this to organisations (Tate Modern)?
- Describe the needs that you think they might have for the product.
All students were thoroughly engaged and enjoyed the task as you can see from their wonderful work.
