The charitable endeavours of the week proved immensely successful, raising an impressive £3.6k in support of three noble causes: The Sanctuary in Chichester, The Sussex Snowdrop Trust, and Grassroots Tanzania. Together with the proceeds from the Fashion Show, our total contributions soared to £16.1k. It's a remarkable achievement, and heartfelt gratitude is extended to everyone who contributed, supported, or participated in these events. Thanks also goes out to the local businesses who generously supported the Charity Week raffle.
The week commenced with Bishop Luffa’s rendition of ‘The Chase’, offering students the chance to pie our altruistic Head Teacher, Mr. Hindman, if emerging victorious. Not only did he volunteer for this charitable event but also displayed his comedic talents the following day during ‘Teachers Got Talent’. Joining him were other teachers such as Ms. Rawlinson with her outstanding singing performance, and an amazing band composed of Mr Owen, Mr Saunders, and Mr Allman.
Wednesday was ‘Human Kahoot’ where students had to compete to see who knew certain teachers the best. Thursday brought on more competition but now the teachers were versing each other in the ‘Masked Singer’. We had numerous fantastic performances from disguised teachers and students definitely couldn't tell who each act was. The audience went specifically crazy for the ‘Barbie Girl’ number by Mr Goldsmith and Ms Ockwell, which led them to victory through student choice. Friday’s ‘Battle of the Bands’ was the grand finale. Students showcased their musical gifts, competing for the prestigious title. The enthralling performance by ‘The Rude Eyes’ secured them the trophy, leaving the audience in ecstasy and ending the week on a high note of success and generosity.
Friday was also Fancy Dress for both students and staff - we had scarecrows, computers, farmers & chickens, vikings, safari, road signs and many more fantastic costumes, and bowing out as winner in his final year at Bishop Luffa was Eddie Baird who came as a Portable Loo!
Through a week filled with laughter, talent, and friendly competition, students and teachers alike displayed their commitment to supporting our charities. The Charity week sub-committee who ran these events - Oliver Appleby (13Andrewes) , Caitlin Waldron (13Otter) and Annabelle Sheridan-Downes (13Ridgeway) - should definitely be patting themselves on the back for a week well executed.
