The Enterprise and House Drama Day, held at the end of June, is one of the highlights of the school calendar and part of the tradition of the school.
All eight Houses performed their plays to their own and their sister House, with the finalists going through to the House Drama Finals.
Years 7 and 8 had a School Games day, with students taking part in an Interhouse competition. They chose a sport out of table tennis, tennis, softball and ultimate frisbee, and then completed in a mixed year group round robin style tournament, playing with the other Houses. All the points from the day have been added to the overall Sports Cup competition.
Year 9 were involved in a Careers Activity carousel where they gained information on what can be done in the future with a chosen GCSE subject, as well as talks from guest speakers who spoke about their jobs and their career journeys.
Year 10 had an Enterprise Day with students taking part in a thrilling ‘live trading’ activity in which they needed resilience and adaptability to respond positively to ever-changing market conditions. They also practiced their sales and communication skills in a fun, light-hearted ‘interview style’ activity.
A Wellbeing session for Years 7 to 10 ran throughout the day focussing on Body Confidence, part of the Dove Self Esteem Programme. The session was aimed at supporting the students as they go into the summer holidays to feel confident about themselves, to become critical thinkers around the messages they are shown through the media regarding appearance ideals, and to be supportive to one another to promote the culture of kindness our school holds.
In the Sixth Form, Year 12 students were introduced to the UCAS process and also alternative pathways available, such as Higher Degree Apprenticeships. At the end of the session students knew how to register on the UCAS Hub and research and shortlist courses and universities, were introduced to Higher Degree Apprenticeships, and understood the requirements of the personal statement.
It was fantastic seeing the students involved in all the activities and plans are already starting for next year’s Enterprise and House Drama Day.
