Young Leaders Conference

Have you ever had to lead a team through shark infested custard? 35 students were set this challenge as they took part in our first Young Leaders Conference. Hosted by Chichester Baptist Church and collaboratively planned by our school clergy team, our young leaders had a brilliant day learning and enhancing their leadership skills. The day started with pastries and group discussion on what it means to lead and be a leader. The conversation with students was both inspiring and thought provoking. We then had the pleasure of welcoming The Rt Revd Ruth Bushyager, Bishop of Horsham to give our key note speech. Students took part on two large group workshops, one on how to effectively lead a team, and the other on public speaking. In the afternoon students spent time in two of four seminars which focused on prayer, sung worship, drama and out tutor time programme ‘Connect’.

Student feedback on the day was very positive – here is what they have to say about the day…

“You have to always work as a team though it is important to have a leader.”

“You have to adapt your leadership style to who you are with.”

“The voice projection workshop was fun and very useful.”

“I loved the drama workshop, it was so much fun and we had to work effectively as a team.”

“I was really inspired by Bishop Ruth’s talk, it helped me realise that developing my leadership is going to be a continuous journey, there is no end point.”
