Congratulations to Libby Johnson (9Sherborne) who had major success at the recent Sussex County Championships held at K2 in Crawley, representing Chichester Cormorants Swimming Club in the 50m and 100m Butterfly. Not only did Libby finish 2nd in the finals for both races for her age group (U15) but she got a silver medal for the 50m and Bronze medal for 100m in the overall Championship for Butterfly for all girls aged 10-15.

Congratulations to Sam Machell (7Burrows) who went to Lake Garda over Easter to take part in The World’s Biggest International Optimist event. 1212 competitors from 34 countries gathered this year in Riva del Garda to join the event – a Guinness World Record! Sam and his family arrived 4 days before the competition started so Sam could join The Atlantis Academy Clinic and Coaching https://www.atlantis-academy.com/2022/11/26/garda-meeting-2023/ This involved an intense full day classroom teaching and coaching on the water. The competition was from the 6- 9th of April with four days of racing. The first two days were qualifiers (divided into start lines of groups of 200 boats). Then into Gold, Silver, Bronze, Emerald and Pearl fleets. Sam has also been selected to represent GBR at the 2023 Irish Optimist National & Open Championships to be held at Ballyholme Yacht Club, Co. Down, Northern Ireland in August.
