Dance House 2023

Dance House 4It was great for Bishop Luffa dancers to be invited back to perform at Dance House at The Alexandra Theatre in Bognor Regis alongside other local primary and secondary schools. This year our Year 12 A Level Dance students Caitlin, Molly, Olivia and Tabby explored the works of Shobana Jeyasingh. As a collaborative project we looked at her focus on the intellectual and physical power of dance and the piece performed was rooted in her vision of culture and society. Our Year 10 BTEC Dancers followed on with a hugely entertaining Samba inspired celebration of the work A Linha Curva by Itzik Galili to the sold-out audience. The dancers embraced the title of the dance Vivo O Momento and were certainly living in the moment! Both dances highlighted the dedication and hard work all of the dancers who rehearsed tirelessly prior to the performance and Mrs Feakins-Taylor and Miss Lawlor were proud to watch them on the stage.

Event organiser Jill Hoskins commented ‘It was fantastic to see your students perform so confidently and professionally on stage, and the audience certainly showed their appreciation very vocally! Your students were a joy to have in the theatre, both at the rehearsal, and at the evening performance and I hope they enjoyed the experience of the whole day’.

Well done to all of the dancers involved in a fantastic celebration of dance.

Mrs J Feakins-Taylor, Teacher of Dance & Head of Otter House
