In English lessons, Year 8 have been learning about the role of newspapers and how they are written. Mrs Cooke, who is a Teaching Assistant at our school, is also a journalist and editor, and she spoke to Year 8 about her role; the importance of free press and truth, and the importance of asking questions.
Luke Quail (8Andrewes) was enthralled by the talk, “Detailing her past escapades, Mrs Cooke had a whole group of Year 8s picturing some of the most interesting, intriguing and exciting set of stories. One of the most attention pulling stories were her experiences under Chinese rule, and trying to do what she felt was right under a government that would soon be in a position of unrest.”
